Navigating the Tumbling Journey: Building Skills and Confidence at Central Athletics Cheer & Tumbling

Welcome to Central Athletics Cheer & Tumbling, where we take pride in guiding our athletes through a thrilling journey of tumbling skills. From the first steps in tiny tumbling to the advanced techniques of level 5/6 classes, our program is designed to build a strong foundation and ensure safe progressions every step of the way.

Each of our classes are designed to build upon the other. When skills & technique are mastered, athletes can move up and begin working on a whole new group of skills!

Tiny Tumbling: The Beginning of the Adventure

Tiny tumbling is where the excitement begins for our youngest athletes (3-5 years old). In these classes, our focus is on developing basic motor skills, coordination, and a love for movement. We introduce them to the fundamentals of tumbling in a fun and supportive environment, setting the stage for their tumbling journey.

Level 1 & 1.5: Foundation Building

Whether your athletes are just beginning or moving up from Tiny Tumbling, in level 1 they start building a solid foundation for more advanced skills. We emphasize proper technique, body control, and strength training. Basic skills such as forward rolls, cartwheels, and handstands are perfected during this stage, providing the groundwork for the challenges ahead.

Master those basic tumbling skills and move onto level 1.5 where athletes strictly work on Back & Front Walkovers. In the chart below level 1 classes are listed as the level appropriate skills and level 1.5 is Advanced Skills. Elite skills are skills that are worked for athletes as additional skills, but are not skills required in the progression of our tumbling classes.

Level 2: Building Confidence and Complexity

In level 2, athletes begin to combine basic skills into more complex sequences. Back handsprings, round-offs back handsprings, and front handsprings become part of their repertoire as they gain confidence in their abilities. Our coaches focus on refining technique and ensuring that each athlete progresses at their own pace, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Level 3: Advanced Techniques and Mastery

Level 3 introduces athletes to advanced tumbling techniques, including connecting multiple handsprings, aerials and back tucks. This stage requires a higher level of strength, flexibility, and dedication. Our experienced coaches guide athletes through the intricacies of these skills, emphasizing the importance of discipline and commitment to achieving mastery.

Level 4: Pushing Boundaries

Level 4 takes tumbling to new heights with skills like layouts, standing back tucks, and more. Athletes in this stage are challenged to push their boundaries and explore the limits of their abilities. Our coaches provide individualized feedback and support to help them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

Level 5/6: The Summit of Tumbling Excellence

At the pinnacle of our program, level 5/6 classes focus on perfecting elite tumbling skills. Athletes work on mastering fulls, standing fulls, and connecting advanced passes. Our coaches, with their wealth of experience, guide athletes through the final stages of their tumbling journey, instilling a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Skill Charts: Tracking Progress
